Bringing a Piece of History to the International Convention

proposal:

A 1930s Kingdom Message Sound Car

We would like to propose displaying a restored 1931 Ford Model A at the Denver International Convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

If approved, we will restore a 1931 Ford Model A that we currently own to represent the early sounds cars. The vehicle will be equipped with a period-style sound box on the roof and the text will reflect the same message that was shared in the 1930’s.

A Historical Display and Photo Opportunity

If approved, the sound car could be displayed at a visible location where attendees can read about it’s history and take photos.

  • A freestanding historical information sign would explain how sound cars were used in the 1930s and include a historical photograph for context.
  • Attendees could stop to read about this part of our history and take family photos beside the vehicle.
  • The display would offer a memorable experience for attendees of all ages and provide a tangible connection to the faithful efforts of those who shared the Kingdom message in earlier decades.

Simple, Self-Contained Display

The proposed display would consist of three elements:

  • The restored sound car: A black 1931 Ford Model A with period-style lettering and rooftop sound equipment.
  • The historical information sign: A freestanding sign explaining the history and purpose of the sound cars.
  • The photo opportunity: Space for individuals and families to take pictures with the vehicle without obstructing pedestrian traffic.

The arrangement would be designed to be visually appealing, easy to understand, and respectful of the convention environment.

Our Hope

We hope this display will help convention attendees appreciate the history of the preaching work, provide an enjoyable photo opportunity, and highlight the dedication and creativity of those who shared the good news of God’s Kingdom in the 1930s.

We appreciate your consideration of this proposal and would be happy to adapt the display to meet the convention’s needs and requirements.
